Yeee Haw!!!

Finally she got up for a picture! What a lazy cowgirl. I'm sure I'll be posting more pics on Monday. She can get into the Bullseye costume and pretend she's riding him. I'll have to get some pics of that. Can you tell it's been chopped up and resewn?

Lots of Stuff Going On

I opened Katie's Halloween costume last night and found out that the size 4 that I ordered was actually a size 7/8. Can you say uh oh? I am not a talented seamstress, but I can baste. Which is what I ended up doing to the sleeves of the shirt. I had to cut 6-7 inches off the pants! She is going as Jesse, the cowgirl from Toy Story II and has Bullseye, Woody's horse, as an addition to her costume. She had to wear her costume to pre-school today so I had emergency sewing to do last night.
I wasn't home when she got dressed up, but I know that pictures were taken so I'll post them later tonight. She wasn't allowed to take Bullseye with her to school, we reserving him for Halloween. Pictures including him will come later. But I think that Bullseye will be around for a while, she loved being able to get into Bullseye and run around the house pretending to be a horse. Which is a break for me since she's usually a T-Rex or bear. T-Rex 2

Katie's take on football

So my husband is back in the States... Bounce and was able to spend the weekend at home. He is leaving tomorrow morning to "de-mobilize" in another state, but at least he's closer. We're hoping he won't have to stay too long. He's close enough that if he does have to stay for a while, we can probably visit on weekends. (So don't be surprised if I don't do alot of posting on weekends.)
Anyway, he was watching football this weekend with Katie and I (okay, I was in the room I was NOT watching the game - sorry, don't like football). Katie is watching it and then comes out with this: "They caallll it football, but I have no idea why.... They're using their hands." I thought JC was going to choke on his dinner.

Mother/Daughter Bond in a spooky kinda way

The other night Katie and I were having a sleepover. I had a dream that Katie was in her yellow PJs and climbed up into my lap. I was giving her a hug and looked down to see a stain on her pants. I asked her if she wet her pants and she said just a little.
The next morning I woke up and while I was talking to Katie I put my hand on her leg. I said, "Katie, where are the PJ pants you had on last night when we went to bed?" (her yellow PJs) She said she went to the potty and wet on them on accident while I was sleeping.
Eek.

2nd Post of the Day - Happy Birthday to a Special Lady

Happy Birthday to Tan Lucy Pez !! One of my favorite bloggers!

Well, so much for the animal lover

There are times when I think that Katie is going to be one of those kids bringing home strays, she already pretends. She's found a baby ______ (fill it in yourself) and they've lost their parents so she has to take care of him/her.
Then there's days like today. We were at the children's zoo by us and she was going to hold a baby chick in her hands. The woman put the chick in Katie's hand and as soon as she felt the claw she jumped and down went the chick! I was horrified it was going to be hurt. Thankfully it wasn't. I held it for her so she could pet it but I had to calm her down first, she was pretty upset. I don't know if she was more upset because it scared her or because she dropped the chick. Hopefully neither will be scarred. Her chick was put back in the pen after we walked away - it needed a rest.

Miscellaneous Katie & Cry for help - 2nd Post of the Day!

Katie in her Spiderman II sweatshirt and pants that Daddy sent from overseas. Couldn't pass up posting these faces. I might need to change the name of the blog to the Many Faces of Katie.

Can you say practicing my teen look? Does this kid look 4?

Is it odd that one's child would consistently pretend that her parents are gone/dead? I'm a little worried.... about my safety....help?

More Roo

Does this look wrong to anyone else? A cat using a stuffed dog as a tent? Can you see the cat? I was about to go to bed and had to stop and take this picture.

This is one of our cats, Roo. Tigger would absolutely not subject herself to this humiliation. Roo, on the other hand, well, let's just say he's special. A little on the dim side. By the way, in the first picture, that's a tissue that Katie is holding in her hand. Apparently Roo had a cold that day too.

Conversations with Bug - 2nd Post today!!

I came in late the other night and went in to give Katie a good night kiss. She woke up and we had this conversation which I thought was too cute not to share. Now a warning - I come off looking like chopped liver in this one. :)

Me: Hi Honey, Just wanted to give you a goodnight kiss.
Bug: Well, I want to give you a hug!
After the hug she says:
Bug: I miss my Daddy. It's no fun without him. (Picture pouting and arms crossed.)
Me: You haven't had any fun without him? (chopped liver time)
Bug: No.
Me: I thought we had done some fun stuff since Daddy has been gone.
Bug: We have, and that makes me happy. (Diplomatic beginnings)
Me: But you would have more fun with daddy around, huh?
Bug: Yeah

Okay, we're officially done waiting. Guess it's a good thing that it's almost over. Now does anyone have any idea how I can be more fun? (Picture pouting and arms crossed.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JC!!!!

Just wanted to wish my husband a very Happy Birthday! He's very far away right now, but should be coming home (at least to the States, not exactly home) in a couple of weeks. I know it's harder on him now being away from home than it has been the rest of the deployment because it's so close to ending. Us too.

So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY!!!!!

Love & Kisses

Uh Oh... I may be in trouble

For those of you who do not know me personally, I'm half Italian. Which makes this story a little more interesting. Katie has one of those "horse heads on a stick" - don't know what they are actually called. This morning I came back to my room after taking a shower and it was in my bed covered up like it was sleeping. Images of The Godfather racing around my head I just stood there and giggled. It wasn't as threatening since it was pink, but I'm not sure if she was trying to leave me a message or not. I'm watching my back.

Happy Birthday Tiff!

I just thought I'd send a Happy Birthday out to Libby's "little girl" who is turning 22 today! I hope this is a great day for her, she's due for a great day!

Happy Birthday!

A blast from the past

I got this off of sleeping mommy's site .

The Rules:
1. Go into your archive.
2. Find your 23rd post.
3. Find the fifth sentence (or closest to).
4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions.
5. Tag five other people to do the same.

I didn't think that I had 23 posts yet, but apparently I have a bigger mouth than I thought. Here's the fifth sentence - in a five sentence post. Whew!

I was mid-"Awww" when she mentioned the you give me everything logic. This is from my August 28th entry :

"Sunday, August 28, 2005

Houston we have a problem
I was taking Katie to a sleepover last night and remembered that I had forgotton to pack her toothbrush. I mentioned it to her and said, "I'm a bad Mommy". She immediately piped up and said "No, you're not! You're a good mommy. You give me everything I want, you're the Best Mommy!" I was mid-"Awww" when she mentioned the you give me everything logic. Yikes!"

I don't know how to copy the link from the old entry, so I thought I would just copy the whole thing.

I don't think 5 people read my blog and those that do have probably been tagged already. So consider this a just for fun entry.

Early Katie Pictures

I was looking through some old pictures of Katie and thought I'd share. I can't help it, I think she's cute... smart, smart... sorry Libby, I forgot your advice! :)

And my cuddly baby.

Okay, maybe I'm not the most compassionate Mom

Is it wrong that while I'm mid-nagging/arguing with my child over eating dinner and she states that she misses her daddy I reply "so do I because then I wouldn't be sitting here telling you to eat, he would"?
I know, real compassionate, but I truly believe that she uses her father as an excuse for bad behavior.
And yes dear, even when you are half a world away, I can still find a way to blame you! It's a gift. Love And Kisses

Screenwriter, Director ??? Hmmm....

This was a good weekend. Katie and I went malling on Saturday, she displayed her fashion sense (and stubbornness) but we had a good time. This morning I was planning on spending the day at home, but decided I was hungry. Purple Smiles So, out we went for breakfast. She is so funny to just observe. She decided that I was her sister (both our names were Mary). She went from putting her hand out saying, "No, no, I don't drink coffee.." when I was asked if I wanted any to "Mary (remember- we were sisters), isn't this a lovely restaurant?"

I'm convinced that she's going to be a screenwriter. She sets scenes so well already, I can't imagine her being anything else...other than a director. Anyone that spends any time with her at all is given a role, a script and is expected to comply with her direction. I'm going to teach her to yell "Action!" and "Cut". Then I think I'm going to take her out to Hollywood. She'll show them a thing or two.

My little storm tracker

For those of you who don't know me well, I love storms. Way more than a normal person, I would love to chase tornados (with the experts - I'm not completely crazy). I have loved watching the footage of Katrina itself (not the aftermath) and I'm amazed by how powerful the forces of nature can be.
I found out last night when I got home that my daughter has been watching Rita's progression. I have not mentioned it to her, watched the weather reports with her or anything else. I'm not sure how this came about. Last night she was crying because she didn't want to go to bed and in a very tearful plea she said, "I want to watch the weather!"
The fact that I did not roll over laughing at this request is a tribute to how well I've learned to hide my true feelings when my daughter cracks me up. I can't wait for her father to hear about this. I can see his eyes rolling now.

Last time in the sandbox for the year?

Okay, I can't help it, I love little kiddo feet. I always thought that people that liked babies' feet were odd... then I had Katie and became one of those people. Although people tell me that I've always been odd anyway. I had to get that in before the comments started adding up on that topic.

We spent out time in the sandbox burying and digging out her dinosaur and her little lizard. Everyone got a bath afterwards. I took video of Katie playing in the sandbox which I'm going to try posting, but I'm not sure how the video will work.

September 14th

Happy Birthday to Me! Cheers Happy Birthday

First Day of School Pictures

Here's some pictures of Katie's first day of school. The many faces of the drama queen.

After telling me she was "losing patience" with me this afternoon on the phone, she finally did have a conversation with me regarding how her first day went. Heartbreaking news folks. Michael is not in her class this year. Oh Jeez

Two posts in one day!

But I had to share. I was trying to talk to my daughter over the phone about her first day back in school. As I tried for the second time to get her attention I hear a sigh and "I'm losing patience...." She had handed the phone back to Cynthia (her nanny) and walked away.

I've been dissed.

Educational Value of Spongebob

The other day in the car, I was talking to Katie about the Katrina victims and how the people that had lost their houses were being taken in by other states. How some were coming up here to Illinois and how others were going elsewhere. I mentioned that Texas had taken in a lot of the people without homes. When I mentioned Texas she said "Where Sandy used to live?" I repeated the name and started trying to think of someone that she knew named Sandy. Then it hit me. Sandy is the squirrel that lives in Bikini Bottom with Spongebob Squarepants. They had done an episode on Texas. So much for my argument that the show has no educational value. Leave it to my daughter.

My child can make a baby out of anything

I came home the other day to find evidence of Katie trying to "baby" her T-Rex.

Her favorite animals are both furry and scaley. She doesn't discriminate. Cool

And just out of curiousity, does this pose look painful to anyone else?

Just cuz

My bug bought me flowers today. Bouquet I've got to get her to teach her dad that. Another thing that she does that I simply find adorable is when out of the blue she says, "Mommy... I love you!" Such a sweetie.

What a salesbug

For those of you who don't know Katibug is Katie's pet name.... She and I were watching TV this evening and an item appeared on a commercial that she is enamored with, but realizes she's too young to have. It's a gadget that provides a quick way of highlighting your hair. She said, "Mommy, I want that when I'm older." And then she got very excited when they said that "your mom can use it too". Mimicking the commercial the next thing I hear is "Mommy, it's even safe for your hair!" So glad she's worried about healthy hair at the age of 4. Purple Smiles

When I'm Queen ...

I'm starting a separate blog so if I feel like sharing my opinions, I'll feel comfortable doing so. The link is on my sidebar "When I'm Queen"- or it can be found at http://whenqueen.blogspot.com.

Hearing my words... out of her mouth

Okay, so Katie and I are playing today and she decides that we're going to do some role reversal. I am now the daughter. She's done this before but today she put me in time out - I swear I didn't do nuthin'! Then when I started giggling I heard out of her mouth - "It's not funny, I am not laughing!" Which, of course, made me laugh harder. I'm in BIG trouble. The last thing that she said is "You are SO grounded!". Okay, now she's getting ahead of me - I haven't grounded her yet!
By the way, Dad, not sure I can make it tomorrow, I might not be allowed out of the house yet. Crying

Katie's dying stuffed animals

Um.. I got home from work last night to find out that my daughter's horse head (one of those things with the pole that you pretend to ride around on) had died. According to her. She wanted to lay it down in her room on a pillow. She apparently had some "food" that would bring it back to life, but she wasn't feeding it any of that. Which was a good thing since overnight the animals that she was sleeping with squeezed one of her stuffed dogs and he died (she was giving the animals responsible for this a time out), then while I was in the shower the rest of the animals died from unknown causes.
When I left for work she was feeding them all the magic food that would bring them back to life.
Thank God, I didn't want to have to start burying stuffed animals in the backyard.
Can I just say....help... please.....

Katrina Victims

I just want to send prayers and good thoughts to the people that are being directly affected by the hurricane. I also want to send prayers to all the emergency workers and National Guardsmen for everything they are and will have to go through until things get stabalized.
