All's right with the world again

I haven't posted in a while because a) I wasn't tired yet of getting yelled at to buy a furby and 2) Katie has had a very bad cold which finally seems to have let up - judging by the holes in my walls from her bouncing around last night. Bounce
But do not think that the cold made her lose sight of her goal. JC and I were in the office on Sunday and called her in to ask her a question. When she saw me sitting at the computer she asked if I had found a furby for four year olds. First time she's mentioned them since the night I posted about. I don't know where she gets her memory from - it sure isn't me!

Who says she can't stay focused?

Momma, momma, I want a Herbie...Furbie, Furbie!

Honey, those are for kids older than you.

But I saw one at Wal-Mart and I talked to it.

Uh-huh, can we please talk about this after dinner?

Some adult conversation ensues as JC and I try to talk. Out of the blue a few minutes later...

Cynthia says that they are for 4 year olds!

We are done talking about this right now.

Okay. No

Can I take the dog for a walk with Daddy after dinner?

Yes (great - we're off the furby thing).

I have one thing to do before we walk the dog.

Oh you do? What is that?

I have to check something on dot com.

What do you have to check on dot com? Try saying that without laughing. I was having trouble.

I have to check if a furby is for 4 year olds. Perturbed

Conclusion: I checked with her, they are for 6 and up. Thank you Amazon DOT COM for backing me up on this one. WooHoo

I've been tagged!

I was tagged by KimmyK

1.) Hum a jingle of which you know all the words.
"...fat kids, skinny kids, even kids with chicken pox love hot dogs, Armour hot dogs, the dogs kids love to bite!" How un-PC is that one!
2.) As a kid, you played a board game over and over. And you cheated you little bastard. What was the game? I'm obviously repressing this memory due to the shame that I am trying not to admit to.
3.) What is the name of the song that you have been singing the incorrect words all these years? What were you singing? What should you have been singing? My problem is not getting the wrong words, it's getting the words in the wrong order, I'm a dyslexic singer.
4.) What is the most embarrassing childhood story that your parents drag out just to f**k with you for their own private amusement. You must understand, it takes alot to embarrass me, especially since Katie has been born. My most embarrassing memory is when I was Katie's age or younger and went to my grandparent's house with my parents. My grandparents had a bunch of people over and they were all sitting around in a big circle talking. I got in the middle of the circle and started dancing/performing (no I have no idea where Katie gets it!). Everyone was amused but my Dad decided it was time for the show to end and asked me to stop... at which point I told him to "shut up". I have no recollection of what happened after that. I have erased it from my memory. If this isn't good enough, I'm sure my Dad will come up with something better.

My little Ballerina

Can I just say that the first picture is true Katie. Half ballerina, half wild animal. I just love the second picture because I can see all the promise and opportunity that life holds for her in that one little shot. I'll ignore the fact that my child is once more glued to her image.

Email I wanted to share

My sister Becky sent me this and I thought it was pretty good so I thought I'd share. It's not about Katie, but I can picture some of this coming out of her mouth. My favorite is James.

JACK (age 3) was watching his Mom breast-feeding his new baby sister.
After a while he asked: "Mom why have you got two? Is one for hot and
one for cold milk?"

MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she
was so old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, "If you don't
remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six."

STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mom goodnight. "I love you so
much, that when you die I'm going to bury you outside my bedroom window."

BRITTANY (age 4) had an earache and wanted a painkiller. She tried in
vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom
explained it was a childproof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes
wide with wonder, the little girl asked: "How does it know it's me?

SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. "Please
don't give me this juice again," she said, "It makes my teeth cough."

D I (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: "How much do I
cost?"

MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and
kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his
dad: "Why is he whispering in her mouth?"

CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried. When his Mom asked
what was troubling him, he replied, "I don't know what'll happen with this
bed when I get married. How will my wife fit in?"

JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: "The man
named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife
looked back and was turned to salt." Concerned, James asked: "What
happened to the flea?"

TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather
wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for awhile and then asked,
"Why doesn't your skin fit your face?"

The Sermon I think this Mom will never forget.... this particular
Sunday sermon..."Dear Lord," the minister began, with arms extended toward
heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. "Without you, we are but
dust." He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter
(who was listening!) Leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her
shrill little girl voice, "Mom, what is butt dust?"

Uh Oh...Libby we may have a run for our Queenship here

JC and I were putting Katie to bed tonight and she yelled "pillow fight"! So we began smacking each other with pillows. This continues for a few minutes amid her screaming and laughing. Then she yells "Peace!" (I guess that means truce?), I put my pillow down and she smacks me with hers!

I think she's going to be inheriting my other blog.

Aaarrrrggghhhhh

I'm putting Katie to bed and pointing out that she behaves until it's bedtime and then she stops behaving. I took away a set of toys last night for one day. Tonight I told her that I was taking them away for another day. She looked up at me and said, "That's two days. That's not that long." Perturbed

She did say no when I asked her if she wanted me to make it a week. Is that a good sign? Fainting

Hawaii Here I come!

My planned move to Hawaii when Katie becomes a teenager may be coming earlier than anticipated. I have changed the requirement from becoming a teenager to just acting like a teenager. I'm buying my tickets tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be able to post from there, right?
It's apparently time for the 6 month attitude adjustment. Although I think it may be less than 6 months from the last one. Does anyone else go through this or is it just me?

Phases of a Carousel

The mall that we frequent has a carousel in it. Katie loves this thing. Tonight we were at the mall and JC took her on it. I pulled the stroller up to the fence to watch them expecting to see the usual, her on a horse of her choosing and him next to her. Wrong.

There is only one other child on the carousel tonight. A young boy, probably 5 or 6. (An older boy.) She has ended up in the spinning car with him. I'm not sure who got in first, but there they are. The first time it goes around I hear her yelling for JC to spin them. When she comes by I see the look of sheer delight in her face as the car spins around. She and the boy seem to be getting along well. Except for one thing. As they come around again I hear the boy say "slower". She's apparently worn him out.

The next time the carousel comes around my daughter is laying on her seat half heartedly trying to spin them herself. She has given up on getting this boy to spin faster. Although I heard her trying to convince JC to spin them against the boy's wishes.

She's four and already too much of a handful for the guys. Wonderful. Check please.

Christmas fun

I will post a couple pictures later, but I really didn't take too many. Sometimes I get into the "I'd rather experience the moment than try to get it on camera" mood. I didn't even take my camera out of the house this weekend.

Katie had a wonderful Christmas although she was a handful all weekend. She didn't want to go out at all Christmas Eve even though she knew there were presents at Nana & Papa's house. Once it was time to come home, however, she instructed me to call Santa and tell him that she had enough gifts (so she wouldn't have to go home and go to bed).

She also did not want to go out on Christmas Day, but once at her aunt's house did manage to have some fun. Monday night she was off to party again with Daddy - I chose to stay home, some people do have to work this week! When she realized that I was not going with she initially looked sad, but then rebounded with "Okay, that works for me!". Mmm hmm. I love my child, I love my child...

Conversations with Katie...

Katie: Mommy, I thought we were going to decorate for Christmas.
Me: We did.. (I'm looking around at the mantle, the tree, the top of the entertainment center...)
Katie: Well, not enough.

Failed again. I'm going to have a complex soon. No

Attention Please

For those of you waiting for the meatball story on My Dad's blog. It's finally there!

Oh and by the way

Did I mention that Katie told me that she didn't get enough sleep the other night because Tigger (our cat) kept waking her up to take her to the bathroom? Since Tigger was sleeping under my bed all night, I'm pretty sure that she's being framed, but I'm not sure why?

Off to a Rough Start

Okay, so puppy, sorry Sherlock (Katie's decision), is not quite as popular as we had hoped. Don't get me wrong, he's adorable and very cuddly - when he's not biting. I know that this is just a puppy thing and he has to be trained not to do this, but it is definitely annoying. And something that Katie was not counting on. Within the same 5 minute interval she will tell me that she doesn't like him too much and then loudly protect him from someone who mentions taking him home with them because they think he's cute. So they have a love/hate relationship going on right now.

My kitchen floor has a hate/hate relationship going on with him right now, but hopefully that will be remedied soon. Here's a tip, buy stock in Febreeze and Lysol.

Our little hunter

Look who caught his first goose! Wakka Wakka Okay, it's stuffed but you have to start somewhere.
And why didn't anyone tell me how exhausting a puppy was going to be? Ugh.

Ta Da!

Can we all say "AAAwwwww" together? And can you see? She just didn't like him at all. NOT!

Sssshhhhh....

No one tell Katie, but this little guy is going to become part of the family on Thursday. She's going to lose her mind. As will my cats. Should be fun!

Finally back... if anyone is still out there...

Okay, back from Disneyland and Seaworld. Yes, I know, I have been back but I've also been incredibly swamped with ... stuff. So swamped I'm thinking of discontinuing my second blog. I just don't have time for two and I enjoy this one much more. I can always share my political opinions on Libby's site. I'm just thinking about it right now. But anyhoo...

Katie had a GREAT time at Disneyland and Seaworld. I think she was actually a little more excited about Seaworld. She has decided that she is going to move to California and work with dolphins. Doesn't everyone want to do that when they're young?

Of course, I have pictures. More than I care to admit. Here are a few.

Katie with her best bud.
Katie being squished by Goofy.
Woody just walked off with Katie, she didn't even think twice about it. Of course we had to follow them around.
Katie's first time on a spinning ride. When she caught her breath she'd yell faster faster!
Katie and JC with his favorite character.

Evil Mommy Revisited

In preparation for our trip to Disneyland, Katie and I were watching all the princess movies this weekend. We were watching Sleeping Beauty and the villianess of the movie was on the screen doing her evil thing. Katie stood up in the chair next to me and said, "Evil! Evil! Evil!" then looked at me so sorrowfully and said "Mommy, you're not evil." When her father came downstairs, I told him of her epiphany and she started yelling "Evil daddy! Evil daddy!" I swear I did not teach her that, but I was totally entertained by the whole thing.

Hello Everyone!

I've been slacking on the posting, but things are crazy with Daddy back. We are taking Katie to Disneyland late next week and I think I'm looking forward to it more than she is. She seems to be scared of the idea of Disneyland. I'm going to pull some pictures up for her so she can see what it's like. If anyone has any that they would like to share, please email me.
She is very excited about SeaWorld. That's my girl - it's all about animals!
I'm going to try to post before the trip, but I didn't want anyone to think I had abandoned the blog - I'm trying to find time to go through my template - has anyone seen my graphics? They seem to have disappeared. At least when I look at it. What's up with that? I need a friend that's really good at this stuff because I am lost.

The Schemer

Last night JC was trying to talk on the phone while sitting next to Katie who was trying to play with her cash register (read noisy toy). He asked her not to let it make noise while he was on the phone, but she just couldn't help herself. I heard him say, fine, I'll just move then or some such thing and he left the area. I walked over there a few minutes later to get her ready for bed and she was sitting on her chair next to her table. BEFORE she saw me she was leaning over playing, AFTER she saw me she sat straight up like a shot and put the pouty face on. I don't think that she realized I had already seen her.

When I asked what was wrong she told me that she had given herself a time out because she made the register make noise while Daddy was on the phone. Big eyes looking sadly up at me I thought, WHAT A SCAM ARTIST!!!

I didn't want to let on that I knew she was faking. I figure it's best if she doesn't know that I know. Winky Then I did my own scamming. I told Daddy about the scene but left out the fact that she had been playing two seconds before she saw me. That's what he gets for trying to take a phone call in her area where she was already playing. Roll

Um..Help!

Katie announced in a very high pitched voice today that she was going to be getting married and having a baby. Has the husband all worked out. He "looked into her eyes and asked her to be his partner" at pre-school today. Contrary to what you may think, I do not let her watch soap operas and eat bonbons all day. I'm not sure where she gets this stuff.
Anyone know any good convents? Help

Bad Influence

My husband has been home less than two weeks and has taught my daughter to say "Evil Mommy!" No
