For Christmas, Katie received a praying mantis kit. She has two egg sacs. There are supposed to be 50-100 in an egg sac. AAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Okay, the little buggers have hatched. Unfortunately, the flightless fruit flies that we bought to feed them, not so alive. There's some in the container, but not a heck of alot that I can see. And I think these guys are hungry.
I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they start eating each other, but I think they are too small for that right now. From what I've read, at this size, fruitflies are basically it.
Anybody got any spare fruitflies? Ew.
I did take pictures, I'll add those later when I'm back home depending on how they came out.
Ew.
And wouldn't you know it, the stupid things hatch when JC's not going to be home for two days.
Ew.

hahahahaha!~! mary, make sure they dont get out and eat you cuz you're trying to starve them!!
You know, I actually got some fruit flies before they all keeled over. They had a ton of fruit flies in the habitat with them. The fruitflies are doing fine, all the praying mantis' are dead except for one that looked alive. It's like I put the flies in and they didn't even touch them. If we get one live praying mantis out of this I'll be happy. Plus, there are probably a few in our front yard because some escaped the other day when JC went to clean out the habitat. :)
mary - " If we get one live praying mantis out of this I'll be happy"...be sad, be very, very sad that you EVER had to type that sentence!! hahahaha!!!
ROFLMAO Libby!!! You are SOOOO right!
Ok, I haven't checked on here in a while. I didn't even know you had a praying mantis habitat. And, I'm going to have to go with you on this one. EW!
