Phases of a Carousel

The mall that we frequent has a carousel in it. Katie loves this thing. Tonight we were at the mall and JC took her on it. I pulled the stroller up to the fence to watch them expecting to see the usual, her on a horse of her choosing and him next to her. Wrong.

There is only one other child on the carousel tonight. A young boy, probably 5 or 6. (An older boy.) She has ended up in the spinning car with him. I'm not sure who got in first, but there they are. The first time it goes around I hear her yelling for JC to spin them. When she comes by I see the look of sheer delight in her face as the car spins around. She and the boy seem to be getting along well. Except for one thing. As they come around again I hear the boy say "slower". She's apparently worn him out.

The next time the carousel comes around my daughter is laying on her seat half heartedly trying to spin them herself. She has given up on getting this boy to spin faster. Although I heard her trying to convince JC to spin them against the boy's wishes.

She's four and already too much of a handful for the guys. Wonderful. Check please.

Christmas fun

I will post a couple pictures later, but I really didn't take too many. Sometimes I get into the "I'd rather experience the moment than try to get it on camera" mood. I didn't even take my camera out of the house this weekend.

Katie had a wonderful Christmas although she was a handful all weekend. She didn't want to go out at all Christmas Eve even though she knew there were presents at Nana & Papa's house. Once it was time to come home, however, she instructed me to call Santa and tell him that she had enough gifts (so she wouldn't have to go home and go to bed).

She also did not want to go out on Christmas Day, but once at her aunt's house did manage to have some fun. Monday night she was off to party again with Daddy - I chose to stay home, some people do have to work this week! When she realized that I was not going with she initially looked sad, but then rebounded with "Okay, that works for me!". Mmm hmm. I love my child, I love my child...

Conversations with Katie...

Katie: Mommy, I thought we were going to decorate for Christmas.
Me: We did.. (I'm looking around at the mantle, the tree, the top of the entertainment center...)
Katie: Well, not enough.

Failed again. I'm going to have a complex soon. No

Oh and by the way

Did I mention that Katie told me that she didn't get enough sleep the other night because Tigger (our cat) kept waking her up to take her to the bathroom? Since Tigger was sleeping under my bed all night, I'm pretty sure that she's being framed, but I'm not sure why?

Off to a Rough Start

Okay, so puppy, sorry Sherlock (Katie's decision), is not quite as popular as we had hoped. Don't get me wrong, he's adorable and very cuddly - when he's not biting. I know that this is just a puppy thing and he has to be trained not to do this, but it is definitely annoying. And something that Katie was not counting on. Within the same 5 minute interval she will tell me that she doesn't like him too much and then loudly protect him from someone who mentions taking him home with them because they think he's cute. So they have a love/hate relationship going on right now.

My kitchen floor has a hate/hate relationship going on with him right now, but hopefully that will be remedied soon. Here's a tip, buy stock in Febreeze and Lysol.

Our little hunter

Look who caught his first goose! Wakka Wakka Okay, it's stuffed but you have to start somewhere.
And why didn't anyone tell me how exhausting a puppy was going to be? Ugh.

No one tell Katie, but this little guy is going to become part of the family on Thursday. She's going to lose her mind. As will my cats. Should be fun!

Finally back... if anyone is still out there...

Okay, back from Disneyland and Seaworld. Yes, I know, I have been back but I've also been incredibly swamped with ... stuff. So swamped I'm thinking of discontinuing my second blog. I just don't have time for two and I enjoy this one much more. I can always share my political opinions on Libby's site. I'm just thinking about it right now. But anyhoo...

Katie had a GREAT time at Disneyland and Seaworld. I think she was actually a little more excited about Seaworld. She has decided that she is going to move to California and work with dolphins. Doesn't everyone want to do that when they're young?

Of course, I have pictures. More than I care to admit. Here are a few.

Katie with her best bud.
Katie being squished by Goofy.
Woody just walked off with Katie, she didn't even think twice about it. Of course we had to follow them around.
Katie's first time on a spinning ride. When she caught her breath she'd yell faster faster!

Evil Mommy Revisited

In preparation for our trip to Disneyland, Katie and I were watching all the princess movies this weekend. We were watching Sleeping Beauty and the villianess of the movie was on the screen doing her evil thing. Katie stood up in the chair next to me and said, "Evil! Evil! Evil!" then looked at me so sorrowfully and said "Mommy, you're not evil." When her father came downstairs, I told him of her epiphany and she started yelling "Evil daddy! Evil daddy!" I swear I did not teach her that, but I was totally entertained by the whole thing.

Hello Everyone!

I've been slacking on the posting, but things are crazy with Daddy back. We are taking Katie to Disneyland late next week and I think I'm looking forward to it more than she is. She seems to be scared of the idea of Disneyland. I'm going to pull some pictures up for her so she can see what it's like. If anyone has any that they would like to share, please email me.
She is very excited about SeaWorld. That's my girl - it's all about animals!
I'm going to try to post before the trip, but I didn't want anyone to think I had abandoned the blog - I'm trying to find time to go through my template - has anyone seen my graphics? They seem to have disappeared. At least when I look at it. What's up with that? I need a friend that's really good at this stuff because I am lost.

The Schemer

Last night JC was trying to talk on the phone while sitting next to Katie who was trying to play with her cash register (read noisy toy). He asked her not to let it make noise while he was on the phone, but she just couldn't help herself. I heard him say, fine, I'll just move then or some such thing and he left the area. I walked over there a few minutes later to get her ready for bed and she was sitting on her chair next to her table. BEFORE she saw me she was leaning over playing, AFTER she saw me she sat straight up like a shot and put the pouty face on. I don't think that she realized I had already seen her.

When I asked what was wrong she told me that she had given herself a time out because she made the register make noise while Daddy was on the phone. Big eyes looking sadly up at me I thought, WHAT A SCAM ARTIST!!!

I didn't want to let on that I knew she was faking. I figure it's best if she doesn't know that I know. Winky Then I did my own scamming. I told Daddy about the scene but left out the fact that she had been playing two seconds before she saw me. That's what he gets for trying to take a phone call in her area where she was already playing. Roll

Um..Help!

Katie announced in a very high pitched voice today that she was going to be getting married and having a baby. Has the husband all worked out. He "looked into her eyes and asked her to be his partner" at pre-school today. Contrary to what you may think, I do not let her watch soap operas and eat bonbons all day. I'm not sure where she gets this stuff.
Anyone know any good convents? Help

Bad Influence

My husband has been home less than two weeks and has taught my daughter to say "Evil Mommy!" No

Halloween 2005 - 2nd Halloween Post!

Someone didn't want her picture taken, even Bullseye looked upset.
There we go. That will be the last that anyone sees of the hat.

JC with Katie and his nieces. The bubble bath, the dead rock star (yes, I said dead) and well, the 13 year old.

The cowgirl requested "a break". I think trying to control four legs was wearing her out.

Other than the rain that came down on us almost the entire time we were TOTing, things went well. I, I mean, Katie got a load of candy and she likes to share. Gotta love that about her.

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween.

Halloween 2003

While I am preparing on taking Katie out today I thought I would leave everyone with a post on how the last Halloween with Daddy went before we come home with any new stories and/or pictures (don't worry, I will definitely be posting pictures - you know me).

Two years ago Katie was only two and didn't quite get the whole Trick or Treat thing yet. She knew that people were giving her candy, but I don't think she really knew why. She also was a little too small to walk the whole strip of businesses that we were hitting. So Daddy put her on his shoulders - by the way, she was dressed as a ladybug. Picture is below.

Everything was going well until daddy decided to give her a Twizzler. Being two, she wasn't good at ripping Twizzler's apart so she was sucking it instead. By the time I realized that she had one it had run all the way down her arm onto daddy's head and down the side of his face. Can you say "EEEWWWWW?" Someone actually asked him if it was blood because they thought it was part of a costume. Daddy had to go into a bar and wash his head. Yes, that's what he told me, looking back it seems like an excuse to get out of the trick or treatin' and drink, doesn't it? He probably needed one by then.
Everyone have a good Halloween! I'll be posting later I'm sure.
And if you haven't read between the lines.... JC is home!!!

Yeee Haw!!!

Finally she got up for a picture! What a lazy cowgirl. I'm sure I'll be posting more pics on Monday. She can get into the Bullseye costume and pretend she's riding him. I'll have to get some pics of that. Can you tell it's been chopped up and resewn?

Lots of Stuff Going On

I opened Katie's Halloween costume last night and found out that the size 4 that I ordered was actually a size 7/8. Can you say uh oh? I am not a talented seamstress, but I can baste. Which is what I ended up doing to the sleeves of the shirt. I had to cut 6-7 inches off the pants! She is going as Jesse, the cowgirl from Toy Story II and has Bullseye, Woody's horse, as an addition to her costume. She had to wear her costume to pre-school today so I had emergency sewing to do last night.
I wasn't home when she got dressed up, but I know that pictures were taken so I'll post them later tonight. She wasn't allowed to take Bullseye with her to school, we reserving him for Halloween. Pictures including him will come later. But I think that Bullseye will be around for a while, she loved being able to get into Bullseye and run around the house pretending to be a horse. Which is a break for me since she's usually a T-Rex or bear. T-Rex 2
