Do you see this horse? It's name is Butterscotch. It moves it's head around, eats a carrot and may even sing I'm not sure. My daughter wants this for Christmas (among the other 500+ things she's found that she wants). This horse is not cheap. In the one catalog she was looking at it was priced at a whopping $300. I mentioned that this pony was REALLY expensive. Katie replied, "That's why I'm asking Santa for it."
Would I be a bad mom if I told her there wasn't a Santa?

well, mary, the wsy i see it, you've started the years of choices...'bad mom', or 'tough love'? but, hey, do it all woth love & laughter! sorry to be so serious, it;s just that time of year~
Don't do it Mary, don't tell her yet there isn't a Santa. Cheyanne still believes. I just waiting for her to figure it out for herself. Unfortunately, I have a husband who is a big kid himself when it comes to Christmas and he'll keep lie going for as long as possible. What I've done for many years is when Cheyanne wanted something that I just thought wasn't necessary or too expensive, I would leave a note from Santa on the fireplace. The note would say that he was sorry, but he just couldn't get everything she asked for. It always works:)
oh, gosh, debbie, GOOD ANSWER!! i forgot that santa was alive & well here til tif was maybe 10!
Okay people relax. I wasn't seriously considering telling Katie that there was no Santa Claus. I was being sarcastic. My amusement at her reasoning out that it didn't matter how much it cost since Santa was getting it for her was the true reason for the post.
Katie has been told ALOT that she doesn't get everything that she asks for. Hopefully if she does not get this pony she won't be scarred for life.
Last year when she didn't get the kitchen she wanted for Xmas (she got an older kids version) I told her that I talked to Santa and he said that he thought the one she wanted was too young for her. She disagreed, but she lived and wasn't too upset about it. So while I'm sure she would be disappointed if she didn't get this pony, I'm sure all the stuff she does end up getting will more than make up for it.
Sorry about that Mary. I couldn't read the sarcasim in you post. I had to laugh when I read your response. I just pictured your face reading ours and you probably thought (ok people I wasn't serious).
Just saw it on Amazon last night for $219. :)
Becky, I think it's great that you're buying it for her! Thanks! roflmao
You are sooooooooooo funny! Nope, that will not be happening. How can Santa let the poor girl down though???? C'mon! She did ask Santa and not you! :)
Santa (read only one that can grow a beard in our house) is not liking the expensive pony that he thinks will not get played with that much after the first couple of weeks. I'm not sure that she won't play with it more often, but I don't want to start an argument over a pony. Although the heart attack that the pony will give poor Roo would be entertaining to watch.
mary-wouldnt it be the best idea in the world if you could rent a certain toy for Christmas, and return it a month later when the kids get tired of it??
How about if "Santa" brings it and rents it out after the novelty has worn away, like a time share, possibly making a few $$$$ along the way, maybe by Easter if Katie has tired of it by then. Santa Daddy may go for that one. :)
